About CoffeeBot

AI-powered coffee recommendations built on taste science, not sponsorship deals.

Our Mission

CoffeeBot exists to solve a simple but persistent problem: finding coffee you actually love without spending hours reading reviews, watching YouTube videos, or buying bags that end up collecting dust in your pantry.

The specialty coffee market has exploded over the past decade. There are now thousands of roasters, hundreds of origins, and dozens of brewing methods. That variety is wonderful -- but it creates decision paralysis for most people. You end up buying the same safe choice every time, or worse, buying something expensive that doesn't match your palate at all.

We use artificial intelligence to cut through that noise. Our AI analyzes your taste preferences, brewing method, budget, and lifestyle to match you with specific coffees from over 100 specialty brands. Every recommendation is ranked by how well it fits your unique profile -- not by who pays us the most.

Our mission is to make specialty coffee accessible, personal, and honest. Whether you are a beginner exploring your first bag of single-origin beans or an experienced home barista searching for your next favorite roaster, CoffeeBot helps you discover coffee that fits the way you actually drink it.

How It Works

The CoffeeBot quiz takes about 30 seconds. We ask 8 carefully designed questions that map your preferences across the dimensions that matter most for coffee enjoyment:

  1. Flavor preference -- Chocolate, fruity, nutty, or smoky? This is the single biggest predictor of whether you will enjoy a specific coffee.
  2. Brewing method -- Espresso extracts completely different compounds than pour-over or French press. A coffee that shines with one method may taste flat with another.
  3. Strength preference -- Light and bright versus dark and bold is about much more than caffeine content. It determines acidity, body, and which flavor notes come through.
  4. Caffeine needs -- Full caffeine, half-caf, or decaf. Simple but essential for narrowing the catalog.
  5. Budget -- Great coffee exists at every price point. We never push premium options when budget picks score higher for your profile.
  6. Occasion -- Your morning ritual coffee serves a different purpose than your afternoon focus coffee or evening wind-down cup.
  7. Dietary requirements -- Organic, fair trade, low-acid, or no preference. These filters matter and we respect them.
  8. Experience level -- Whether you are just starting out or have been cupping for years changes which recommendations make sense.

After you answer, our AI scores every product in our curated catalog against the full combination of your answers. This is not a simple decision tree with 12 possible outcomes. Two people who both select "medium roast" can get completely different recommendations based on their other answers. Each recommendation comes with a match percentage and an AI-written explanation of why that specific coffee fits your profile.

You receive your top 3 bean matches, a subscription recommendation, equipment suggestions matched to your brewing method, and accessories that will improve your daily cup. All personalized, all ranked by fit score.

Who Made This

CoffeeBot was built by The CoffeeBot Team -- a small group of coffee enthusiasts and software engineers who were frustrated with the state of online coffee recommendations.

Every "best coffee" list we found recommended the same 5 brands to everyone. Every brand quiz was a thinly veiled sales funnel. And every Reddit thread devolved into arguments about grind size. We wanted something better: an unbiased system that treats coffee recommendation as a genuine matching problem, not a marketing exercise.

Our team combines hands-on brewing experience across dozens of origins and methods with expertise in AI, data analysis, and product design. We have collectively brewed thousands of cups using everything from a $15 hand grinder to a $3,000 espresso machine. We have tasted coffees from Ethiopia, Colombia, Kenya, Guatemala, Indonesia, Brazil, Costa Rica, and beyond. That experience informs how we design our matching algorithm and curate our product catalog.

We are members of the specialty coffee community and stay current with industry research from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), peer-reviewed brewing science studies, and direct relationships with roasters and importers. Our content is reviewed for accuracy before publication.

Our Revenue Model (Transparency)

CoffeeBot earns affiliate commissions when you purchase products through our recommendation links. When you click a link and buy, we receive a small percentage of the sale at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep the quiz and all our content completely free.

Here is what that means in practice:

  • We only make money when you find coffee you love. If our recommendations are bad, we earn nothing. Our financial incentive is perfectly aligned with giving you the best possible match.
  • Recommendations are ranked by fit, not commission. A coffee that pays us 1% commission will rank above a coffee that pays 15% if it is a better match for your profile. Our algorithm does not factor in commission rates.
  • We partner with multiple retailers and brands. We use a mix of Amazon Associates, direct brand affiliate programs, and subscription service partnerships. This diversification means we are not beholden to any single company.
  • We disclose all affiliate relationships. Every product page and recommendation clearly identifies affiliate links. You always know when a link will earn us a commission.
